Educational Familiarization Program
Students from colleges and universities throughout Louisiana will be selected to participate in a six-week structured Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) review program housed on the campus of Centenary College of Louisiana. The Princeton Review reference materials and instructors will be utilized to assist students with academic preparation. Review courses include: Biology, Physics and Math, Biochemistry, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Psychology and Sociology, and Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills. Participating students must apply to medical school through the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) while attending the program and must also take the MCAT by September of the participating year.
Selection Criteria
- Classification: College Junior, Senior or Recent Graduate
- Minimum GPA of 3.5
- Louisiana Resident
- Official Transcript
- Two Letters of Recommendation
- Six-Week Commitment
- Interest in attending LSU Health Shreveport, School of Medicine
- Prior MCAT score(s) below the national average
- Housing is eligible for non-local students

Jumpstart
High school students from Caddo and Bossier Parish Districts will be selected as program participants for the eight week Jumpstart Summer Enrichment Program. Students are exposed to intense hands-on research activities conducted by LSU Health Shreveport faculty who serve as program mentors. Selected students will work in a research laboratory or clinical setting 40 hours per week for eight weeks. At the end of the program, students present the results of their research projects at a poster session which demonstrates their scientific writing skills and ability to evaluate scientific data. Students are encouraged to pursue careers in medicine, research or allied health professions.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
The Jumpstart Summer Enrichment Program (JSEP) is sponsored by the Office for Diversity Affairs at LSU Health Shreveport. The program targets high school students interested in Medicine, Biomedical Research or Allied Health Professions. JSEP allows Caddo and Bossier students to participate in eight weeks of hands-on research activities mentored by LSU Health Shreveport faculty. Students present the results of their research projects at a poster session, demonstrating their scientific writing skills and ability to evaluate scientific data.

Pre-Matriculation Enrichment Program
Fifteen incoming first-year medical students will be selected to participate in a six-week preparatory program which introduces three basic science courses taught during the first year of medical school. The program is designed to help students adjust to the discipline and environment of medical school with greater ease and competency.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
The Pre-Matriculation Enrichment Program (PEP) is sponsored by the Office of Diversity Affairs at the Louisiana State University Health Shreveport. The PEP is a six-week preparatory program that introduces students to three basic science courses (Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry) which are taught in the first or second year of medical school. In addition, students will be exposed to the Emergency and Operating Rooms and Study Skills.
