The Office for Student and Community Engagement (OSCE) leads our recruitment programs and initiatives. The institution wants to attract and inspire college students to complete their professional studies at LSU Health Shreveport and contribute to the healthcare sector in Louisiana.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Our doors are open to any Pre-med and STEM major who has expressed an interest in LSU Health Shreveport. We welcome you to be a part of our community.

PROGRAM GOALS
To retain 75% of the Louisiana residents who apply to LSU Health Shreveport.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS AND TIMELINE

  • OSCE works with LSU Health Shreveport's Strategic and Medical Communication Department to design promotional materials for recruitment fairs. These materials include brochures, videos, and interactive presentations, all of which aim to provide comprehensive information about our educational programs. The Recruitment Fairs are scheduled from September through December, and Recruitment Information Session and Evaluations (RISE) is  held monthly and virtually.
  • Under the leadership of the assistant vice chancellor of OSCE, we collaborate with in-state and out-of-state Pre-med and STEM advisors to schedule campus visits tailored to your needs and preferences, whether in person or virtually. This practice ensures a personalized and informative experience for each prospective student.
  • The pre-med and STEM advisors share the campus visit date with their students and coordinate the visit.
  • Upon request, each school's dean, faculty member, or student will accompany the OSCE representative on these campus visits.
  • The OSCE director collects proof of attendance and records that information in the Office of Student and Community Engagement.
  • The OSCE director will share the prospective student's contact information with the designated staff member in each school for the student who has expressed an interest in their program. This process is conducted with the utmost respect for the student's privacy and in compliance with data protection regulations.
  • After each campus visit, the prospective students receive an e-mail from OSCE entailing the next steps for learning more about the institution.
