Meet the Team

My name is Trevor Blackstock and I am a first-year medical student from Ruston, LA. Getting a chance to interact with both the campers and my classmates last year through camp was an amazing and unforgettable experience! I am grateful to be working with our team of dedicated medical students who are enthusiastic about making Camp Tiger 2023 the best one yet! 

I appreciate all the support that the students, faculty, community, and parents/guardians of our campers have and continue to show for Camp Tiger and our team. None of this would be possible without your support, and we are truly thankful to have this opportunity to give back to the community. We hope to see you and your camper this summer! 

I am absolutely thrilled to be a part of Camp Tiger this year! Camp holds a special place in my heart, and I love being able to provide a fantastically fun time for our campers! I look forward to meeting our new campers and families as well as seeing our past campers again. I love the many activities that we can do with them. If any campers love music, movies, superheroes, let me know because those are some of my favorite things!

Camp Tiger is where the purest joy is felt—by campers and counselors alike! I am so excited to take part in this experience. The best part about this camp is providing activities for such a deserving group of children, while building relationships with our community. I cannot wait to help create joyful memories for these kids!

I am so excited to get to see returning campers and to meet all the new campers this year! I loved being able to see the campers smile daily and make great memories with them. Camp Tiger is one of the most meaningful experiences I have been a part of, and I can’t wait to serve this year!

I love Camp Tiger because of the impact it has on the incredible children in our community. It is truly a week all about the kids—a place where they can be themselves, make new friends and, most importantly, have fun! They look forward to Camp every year, and so do the medical students at LSU Health Shreveport. I am excited to help plan Camp Tiger 2023 and am looking forward to spending time with everyone!

My name is Alex Hollander, and I am grateful to be serving as a Counselor Co-Director for Camp Tiger 2023! Attending Camp Tiger last year as a counselor, I never thought this experience would leave such an everlasting impact on my life. Working with the campers, getting to know the Shreveport community and medical school, and gaining relationships with several families, this experience made me humbled and full of gratitude. I love Camp Tiger because this camp benefits not only the campers and their families but also medical students in ways they would have never expected. I look forward to creating meaningful relationships with counselors and campers and seeing all the campers’ smiling faces. I am extremely honored and excited to serve the community of Shreveport and look forward to making Camp Tiger 2023 one of the most memorable camps yet!

My name is Ben Chanes, and I am a first-year medical student from Metairie, LA. I am very excited to serve as one of the Counselor Co-Directors for Camp Tiger 2023! I was fortunate to be able to volunteer at last year’s camp as a counselor, and it has easily been one of my favorite experiences of medical school thus far. Being able to spend quality time with our campers while forming great relationships with them and their families is what I am most looking forward to at Camp Tiger this year. It is very inspiring to witness the joy and enthusiasm of our campers, and I cannot wait to help plan an amazing camp where we will form life-long memories this summer.

Being a part of Camp Tiger is one like no other. Knowing that I played a role in the happiness and joy that my camper had during the week was the most meaningful feeling. The bond that I shared with both my co-counselor and camper will always be cherished. I am beyond blessed to help give another group of wonderful campers the best week full of excitement, laughter, and so much fun!

Camp Tiger is the best experience most of all because it provides the opportunity for every child to have the summer camp experience. It brings together our med school and our community so that we can all make connections and form meaningful relationships while having a blast together! It’s one of our first chances to put our empathy into action so that our campers can have an extraordinary week, and I will treasure the memories and lessons I’ve learned forever!
