Student Common Areas
The health and well-being of our students is crucial. Therefore, we have provided ample areas across our campus for students to connect with peers, study alone or in groups, or find a quiet moment alone. In addition to the spaces below, each of the eight floors of the research building, connected to our medical school, has large areas with an abundance of natural light and casual seating, along with tables and chairs. There are also several outdoor garden areas on campus with benches and covered dining areas.
The School of Medicine student lounge is a great area to take a break, play some ping-pong, relax with friends or even grab a quick nap. The lounge is located on the first floor of the medical school building and just across from the exercise rooms. The lounge is available 24 hours / 7 days a week for students with badge access.
Amenities: microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, couches, magazines, tables/chairs, TV and more.
The exercise facilities are located on the first floor of the School of Medicine is a multi-room facility with strength equipment, exercise cycles, showers, and lockers. These facilities are available 24 hours / 7 days a week for students with badge access. Residents can gain access for a small fee by contacting the Student Affairs Office.
In addition to the on-campus facilities, LSUHS has an agreement with an off-campus gymnasium for basketball, volleyball and other competitive sports activities.
This common student space has multiple rooms and areas for a diverse arrangement of study areas, including closed room areas for groups of students to work together, open areas with small or large tables, and snack areas. The Student Commons is open to all students 24 hours a day / 7 days a week and has interior and exterior badge access. It is located on the ground floor of the library.

Conveniently located next to the large Student Commons area is a lounge for students to break away from studying and relax while enjoying a conversation, grabbing something to eat or watching something on the large screen TV.

In a separate independent building on campus, we have a student union that is available for small to medium size events for all the schools on campus. This is frequently used by campus organizations to host a variety of activities, but is available to any student via badge access.
Amenities: kitchen area, restrooms, tables, chairs, digital screens, and a variety of interactive games.
The Center for Medical Education will provide 21,500 square feet for group and individual fitness space, meditation, counseling, nutritional wellness, a multi-activity center, and more, providing students a state-of-the-art wellness facility coupled with education on the importance of a healthy mind and body.
