Applicants will not be considered for an interview until all required information has been received and their file is complete. Applications meeting all requirements will be fully reviewed and considered for an interview. Applicants chosen for interviews must be academically excellent and have demonstrated an interest in medicine through clinical and/or research activities. Those selected for interviews will be contacted by telephone or e-mail by the Office of Admissions to schedule interview visits.
Shreveport uses a non-stress interview, in which your central task is to educate your interviewers. This is your opportunity to present yourself in a positive light and accentuate the aspects of your credentials that you want us to remember.
Unless you have applied Early Decision, you will more than likely interview on a Tuesday between October and March. Nonetheless, you need to carefully read the e-mail confirming your own interview to be sure.
Check in at the Admissions office in Building B, Room 1-208, and you’ll be taken to the conference room, where the orientation will be held.
|11:00 - 11:30||Check in|
|11:30 - 11:45||Ice-breaker|
|11:50 - 12:50||Lunch with medical students|
|1:00 - 1:50||An orientation session concerning the basic sciences, the clinical program, research, financial aid, and various other topics begins the afternoon.|
|2:00 - 4:00||Two blind, one-on-one interviews are scheduled for this time. "Blind" means that while your interviewer will have your personal statement and biographical data, he or she will not have access to your grades, MCAT scores or Letters of Recommendation.|
|2:00 - 4:00||In addition to the two blind interviews, you will have an open-book interview with either the Chairman of the Admissions Committee or the Dean of Admissions, or potentially both, who will review all aspects of your application. These last from a few minutes to as long as needed to clarify any issues. The purpose of this interview is to anticipate any questions that might arise during committee review.|
|4:00 - 5:00||Some of our students will take you on a tour of the medical school and hospital.|
