Testing and Academic Integrity
Statement on Academic Integrity for Students and Faculty
Academic integrity is the commitment to and demonstration of honest and moral behavior in the academic setting. LSUHSC-S School of Medicine is committed to creating and sustaining an educational environment that fosters the values of honesty, trust, fairness, respect, and responsibility. These values are critical to the intellectual and ethical formation of future physicians and scientists.
Students
All students are responsible for maintaining an atmosphere of honest inquiry, academic integrity, and professionalism. Students should strive to conduct themselves and their academic and scholarly activities with the highest standards of truthfulness, integrity, and respect for the rights of others.
Students should refrain from any action violating the principles of the Student Code of Conduct. Each student is responsible for the content and the integrity of all work performed or documents submitted. Academic dishonesty is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Cheating, forgery, plagiarism, and collusion in dishonest acts undermine educational mission of LSU Health Shreveport School of Medicine and students’ personal and intellectual growth.
Any form of academic dishonesty will be penalized with a failing grade (i.e., zero points) for the assignment, quiz, or examination in which the infringement occurred. Additionally, any breaches in academic integrity may be referred to the Professionalism Committee for further disciplinary action.
Faculty & Staff
All faculty and staff are committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and professionalism. All course directors and exam proctors have committed to maintaining the confidentiality and security of NBME examination materials and pledge to adhere to NBME examination rules and LSUHSC Examination Policy and Procedures.
All employees and affiliated professionals of the LSUHSC-S shall abide by regulations set forth in the Statement of Professional Ethics, the Code of Conduct, and the Compact between Teachers and Learners in conjunction with the policies and procedures established by the LSUHSC.
Employees can be suspended, terminated, or barred from further employment or affiliation with LSUHSC-S as a result of any breaches in academic integrity or non-compliant behavior.
Any individual that witnesses a breach in the academic integrity of the examination process should report the violation to the Executive Chief Proctor or the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.
