SAGE Honor Society

The purpose of the Student Advisory Group for Evaluations (SAGE) Honor Society is to promote the amicable exchange of opinions between the student body and the faculty, with a view to the consistent betterment of the educational, medical, and scientific standards of the School of Medicine.  In addition, the group endeavors to aid in any way possible the various classes, faculty, and other organizations of the School of Medicine.

One of the primary roles of SAGE is to collect, organize, record, and voice the opinions of the students regarding the required pre-clerkship and clerkship courses.  This is a continuous evaluation process which, to the credit of an interested and receptive faculty, will have a significant impact on the evolution of the medical curriculum at LSU Health Shreveport.

STAR Award

Each month, SAGE honors the teaching excellence of an LSUHS faculty or resident with the Sage STAR Award for Superior Teaching Award and Recognition, which acknowledges the individual for their approachability, enthusiasm, and superior quality of instruction. All students are encouraged to take a moment to nominate an outstanding LSUHS faculty or resident. Nominations should be based on criteria such as consistent quality, attitude, compassion and going “above and beyond” what is reasonably expected. We want to recognize those that exemplify these qualities of excellence and positively impact student learning.
