The LSU Health Shreveport Family Medicine Residency in Alexandria, Louisiana is an unopposed, community-based Family Medicine residency program at Rapides Regional Medical Center.  Our clinical educational program achieves excellence through our outstanding clinical faculty and staff, practical, real-world patient care in a full-service family medicine center, and clinical rotations throughout our tertiary care medical center.  The program also offers a dedicated procedural suite, offering a wide variety of medical procedures for patients.  Our resident curriculum is heavy in the inpatient setting with adult and pediatric inpatient, emergency medicine, cardiology, nephrology, and surgery.

The facilities at Rapides Regional Medical Center are state of the art, including a Level II Trauma Center, Certified Primary Stroke Center, Lung Cancer Screening Center and Accredited Chest Pain Center.  The emergency department is one of the largest in Louisiana.  The adjoining Rapides Women’s and Children’s Hospital offers family-focused, comprehensive care, including PICU and NICU.  Through a long-standing affiliation agreement with LSU, residents experience premier educational opportunities at these award winning facilities Our resident curriculum is heavy in the inpatient setting with adult and pediatric inpatient, emergency medicine, cardiology, nephrology, and surgery.
