The Center for Brain Health (CBH) strives to expand neuroscience-related education, provide comprehensive care for brain disorders, attract young specialists and pioneering clinical trials to North Louisiana, and develop a core of federally funded investigators necessary to compete for large scale research funding. The CBH received full approval by the Louisiana Board of Regents in December 2019.

The Center for Brain Health is committed to the “achievement of distinction and national recognition for selected basic science and clinical programs that contribute to the body of knowledge and practice in medicine.” Neuroscience is a rapidly expanding field that has become fundamental to education, patient care and research. However advances rely on a multidisciplinary team, integrating biology, engineering and medicine from molecular genetics to human brain imaging. Clinicians and neuroscientists at LSU Health Shreveport, Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport Academic Medical Center, Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, and LA Tech propose to create such a team, where cutting-edge technology is used to provide top-quality education, deliver state-of-the art care and conduct pioneering research that will lead to the development of new therapies for brain disorders.
