The LSU Health Shreveport Internal Medicine Division of Cardiology emphasizes excellence in patient care, post-graduate education, and medical research. We are dedicated to the prevention, detection, treatment, and understanding of cardiovascular conditions such as coronary heart disease, arrhythmia, heart failure, valvular heart disease and peripheral artery disease. We aim to excel in graduate medical education with a curriculum that strengthens the patient/physician relationship, facilitates evidence based clinical practice, cultivates diversity, and fosters professionalism. We offer three fully accredited Fellowship programs: A three year Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship, a one year Interventional Cardiology Fellowship and a two year Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship.

Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship

The program prepares fellows for successful career in Cardiology, and is a stepping stone for specialization in the fields of Interventional cardiology, cardiac electrophysiology, adult congenital heart disease and cardiac imaging.

Interventional Cardiology Fellowship

The program goal is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care utilizing state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic modalities. We are dedicated to excellence in patient care, research, and education.

Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship

The program will train fellows in diagnosis and management of patients with cardiac arrhythmias including all appropriate invasive and noninvasive methods for evaluation and drug, device and ablative forms of therapy.

We promote multi-disciplinary, collaborative clinical care and research efforts in cardiovascular disease. The DCI clinic is home to a number of cardiovascular clinics, including the General Cardiology clinic, Interventional Cardiology clinic, Heart Failure clinic, Arrhythmia and Device clinic, Pregnancy and Heart Disease clinic, and cardiothoracic surgery clinics. Exceptional patient care is provided by our highly specialized physicians who are experts in theses specific cardiovascular conditions. The Center for Cardiovascular Disease and Sciences provides opportunity and resource for translational research. Clinical research is also strongly encouraged and supported.
