April, 2024 - GHHS Gold Humanism Honor Society Student of the Month is Evan Trahan, MSIV!

During Evan’s time on the in-patient Internal Medicine rotation, he cared for a patient with a life-altering medical diagnosis and a poor prognosis. The patient was informed that she would have a long road ahead. Every day following that diagnosis, Even took extended time to visit with the patient and her family. He spent time explaining what to expect during her treatment. The had questions specifically on how the patient’s quality of life, emotional wellness, and physical wellness were about to change. Evan was able to use his own experiences to talk to his patient on a personal and medical level. They discussed an array of topics and he was able to be a source of comfort, inspiration, and safety for this patient and their family. In a hospital full of medical jargon and complex conversations, Evan was able to create a safe, open space for the patient to know what lays ahead. Beyond his care of patients, his care of his friends and classmates is even more honorable, making him the most well-rounded, caring student on this campus. He treats every patient with respect, kindness, and empathy.  He will make an excellent, compassionate physician.
