LSUHS Resident Council congratulates Dr. Karen Chen, Resident in General Surgery, selected as the January 2024 Resident of the Month.

Dr. Miles Minvielle, PGY-1 received the “Best Resident DVT Case Study” at the 2023 Vascular Annual Meeting in National Harbor, MD.

Three of our General Surgery Residents were participants in the annual GME poster presentation at LSUHS: Garrett Lambert, MD; Subhadeep Paul, MD; and Emily Adams, MD.

For 2023-2024, Dr. Emily Adams and Dr. Christopher Foster have been appointed by the Department of Surgery to serve as administrative chiefs for the General Surgery residents.

Dr. Nicholas Gilbert received a “Best Remarkable Case” award at the 2023 Louisiana Chapter ACS Annual Meeting, March 24-26 in New Orleans, LA.

Dr. William Ishee and Dr. Lance “Tyler” Albin were resident inductees into the Gold Humanism Honor Society for 2023. GHHS recognizes students, residents and faculty who are exemplars of compassionate patient care and who serve as role models, mentors and leaders in medicine. 

Drs. Alexandra Birch, Sean Clayton, Connor Eckholdt, Garrett Lambert, Raquel Candal, Julian Arrieta, and Subhadeep Paul attended the 2022 American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress in San Diego, California.

The Office of Academic Affairs and the SAGE Honor Society have named Dr. William Ishee, PGY-5, Department of Surgery, as the November 2022 Superior Teaching Award and Recognition (STAR) recipient. 

Drs. Alexandra Birch, Sean Clayton, Connor Eckholdt, Garrett Lambert, Raquel Candal, Julian Arrieta, and Subhadeep Paul attended the 2022 American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress in San Diego, California.

Dr. Beatriz Briones and Dr. Connor Eckholdt were the latest recipients of the 2022 Gold Humanism Honor Society Inductees. GHHS recognizes those who are exemplars of compassionate patient care and who serve as role models, mentors and leaders in medicine.

Dr. Brooks Lowrey and Connor Eckholdt represented LSU Health Shreveport in the Surgical Jeopardy Bowl at the LA-ACS 2022 Annual Meeting.

Dr. Emily Adams was accepted for a Quickshot Presentation at the 17th Annual Academic Surgical Congress Conference for her abstract titled “Recidivism in Trauma: Determining Risk Factors for Recidivism at a Level 1 Trauma Center.”

Dr. Aryeneesh Dotiwala was accepted for a Quickshot Presentation at the 17th Annual Academic Surgical Congress Conference for her abstract titled “The Lockdown Paradigm: Investigating the Shifting Face of Trauma During the COVID-19 Pandemic.”

The Department of Surgery appoints two senior residents as administrative chiefs for the academic year who accepts responsibilities beyond those normally included in the resident’s academic program. This position is one of professionalism, leadership, and distinction serving as an example for co-residents.

Five of our residents were featured in LSU Health Shreveport's annual poster presentation highlighting research among residents on our campus.

Dr. Christopher Foster is an exemplary representation of our General Surgery department. During his time at our institution, he has consistently performed in the operating room, as well as, in the management of our diverse and complicated surgery and trauma patients.
