Our Postgraduate Cardiothoracic Surgery PA Fellowship provides opportunity to obtain a dynamic cardiothoracic surgical training experience enabling you to provide the highest level of care through your ability to triage, evaluate, treat, and manage cardiac and thoracic disorders, and  first-assist in the operating room.  



Our mission is to provide a dynamic cardiothoracic surgical training experience for physician assistants enabling them to provide the highest level of care through their ability to triage, evaluate, treat, and manage cardiac and thoracic problems, and independently first-assistant in the operating room. The goal of the program is to assist trainees in growth and development of surgical, medical, and critical thinking skills required to build successful careers in Cardiothoracic Surgery and that foster proficiency in delivery of safe, quality patient care to the CT surgical patient. 

PA trainees will master various techniques of conduit harvesting and preparation and acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to manage patients with Coronary Artery Disease, Aortic Valve Disease, Mitral Valve Disease, Adult Congenital Heart Disease, Aortic Aneurysm, Lung and Esophageal Cancer, Thoracic Disease and Thoracic Trauma.

PA trainees will gain foundational knowledge through simulated workshops, skills labs, surgical conferences, surgical case presentations, and curriculum specifically designed for the PA role in Cardiothoracic surgery that will provide a sound, surgical knowledge base while working alongside world-class surgeons and ancillary staff. The surgical fellowship allows for both surgical skills and patient care experience. As a cardiothoracic surgery physician assistant fellow in this program, you will experience high-quality training from faculty surgeons in surgical triaging, intervention, and management of patients with cardiothoracic disorders.
