Thank you for your interest in LSU Health Shreveport. We offer residencies in both Diagnostic Radiology and Interventional Radiology-Integrated (IR/DR). Our programs offer a combination of resident-oriented clinical training with supporting didactic teachings.
We are committed to providing every resident educational and practical experience in all aspects of radiology during which the resident receives a balanced series of rotations through all sub-specialties. We also offer the Early Specialization in Interventional Radiology (ESIR) program for Diagnostic Radiology residents interested in pursuing interventional radiology.
For the 2025 Match, we are offering four categorical positions in Diagnostic Radiology (this includes ESIR). We are not currently offering a position in IR/DR for the 2025 Match.
Residents matching in DR will spend their preliminary year in Internal Medicine here at LSU Health Shreveport.

DIAGNOSTIC RADIOLOGY RESIDENCY
Our patients are primarily residents of North Louisiana, East Texas and South Arkansas. We have organized our reading rooms to have the attendings and residents working side by side at independent work stations to provide supervision and immediate feedback. Our structured academic curriculum is key to becoming a competent radiologist and to passing the board. We hold at least two didactic conferences a day during which we incorporate our core curriculum and core prep lectures, plus dedicated board and in-service reviews.
Our residents also attend multidisciplinary conferences with other departments. I personally attend most of the conferences to evaluate the quality of the presented material and the progress of our residents. In addition, we purchase several online courses and subscriptions to online resources to supplement our resident education. During the last year of residency, we offer a mini fellowships according to the resident interest.
Almost all of our residents go into fellowships and they are accepted into some of the most prestigious programs in the country. Just this past year, we had residents match into fellowships at Johns Hopkins, Harvard and Georgetown.

INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY - INTEGRATED RESIDENCY
Our Integrated Residency program is designed to be a comprehensive training program for all subspecialties of radiology, with special emphasis on interventional radiology. Our robust International radiology Division provides a wide breadth of exposure to all image guided interventions, including intervention oncology, Hepatobiliary, genitourinary, women's health, pulmonary artery interventions, as well as vascular access interventions. Residents rotate with vascular surgery, intervention nephrology, and interventional neuro-radiology with an emphasis on hands-on clinical training with graded and gradual responsibility to take care of complex patients.
We are a full admitting service and have a busy I.R. clinic. We have a didactic lecture series in interventional radiology, case conferences, angio clubs, journal clubs, as well as I.R. M&M residents. Residents also have the opportunity to participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and are involved in research where they present at several national and international conferences. Resident Education and well-being is our priority. Please contact us with any questions regarding our program.
