Laura Handal-Abularach, MD, PGY-I, wins first place at the Louisiana Psychiatric Medical Association Spring Meeting Poster Competition in March, 2024.
Our Psychiatry Residency is a 4 year ACGME accredited program.
The program Faculty consists of Board Certified Psychiatrists with several years of experience who have a variety of sub-specialty training. Our residents are exposed to a wide array of patients across multiple training sites. The clinical experience and educational activities foster well-rounded psychiatrists who are prepared to enter private practice or sub-specialty training. We are accredited for 32 total positions, and typically accept 8 interns per year in the NRMP Match. In addition to the traditional Psychiatry track, we also offer Psychiatry-Child Track through the NRMP Match.

Why work and train in Shreveport, Louisiana?
Shreveport is the third largest city in Louisiana and is a wonderful place to live with beautiful parks and lakes, a low cost of living, almost non-existent traffic issues, a vibrant arts scene and home to dozens of locally owned restaurants in addition to national chains. Located at the crossroads of Texas and Arkansas, living in Shreveport provides easy access to cities such as Dallas/Ft. Worth, Hot Springs and numerous Louisiana cities.
