EDUCATION

Louisiana Laryngology Learning Session

  • This is a quarterly virtual laryngology conference for the 4 fellowship trained laryngologists in Louisiana and their teams.
  • Previous topics of discussion have included: the again voice, speech prothesis troubleshooting, management of the obese tracheostomy, innovations in office procedures, Reinke’s edema management and transgender voice therapy.

Voice & Swallow Rounds

  • This interdepartmental conference is held on the last Tuesday morning each month from 8 to 9am.
  • Otolaryngology faculty and trainees and well as Speech language pathologists attend. Topics include voice and swallow issues impacting adult and pediatric patients.
  • Members of our team take turns presenting interesting cases and reviewing the pertinent literature.

LSUHS School of Medicine 

  • Experience in laryngology is a integral part of the Otolaryngology rotation for our medical students.
  • The faculty from the Ark-LA-Tex Center for Voice, Airway and Swallowing actively participate in lectures and hands-on workshops for students.

LSUHS Graduate Medical Education

Centenary College 

  • Students in Biology majors and those interested in applying to medical school are invited to shadow and observe the laryngology clinic
  • We enjoy a close partnership with the Hurley School of Music. Center members serve as judges for the annual Voice competition. Additionally, voice students are invited annually to the clinic for an opportunity to visualize their vocal cords and learn about the physiology of singing.
