RESIDENT WELLNESS | Neurology

Our residency program is demanding and requires significant work, dedication, and compassion. We prioritize fostering a collegial atmosphere and a strong sense of belonging among our residents. Our commitment to wellness is evident through our Resident Wellness Committee, which is dedicated to addressing the variety of wellness needs of our residents.

The Resident Wellness Committee meetings are crucial for addressing wellness issues within our program and ensuring compliance with ACGME's wellness requirements. These meetings cover important topics such as sleep deprivation, burnout, and compassion fatigue. Additionally, the committee regularly organizes wellness activities both on campus and offsite, often involving resident spouses and families.

Spotlighting some of our recent and recurring events ...

BLUEBERRY PICKING

For years, our new residents and faculty have taken the half hour drive to the Shuqualak Farm in Frierson, Louisiana for blueberry picking in the summer.

Incoming Potluck Welcome Party

The feeling of family is important to us, so we make sure that our incoming residents and fellows get an opportunity to know each other and our faculty. Our 2023 party was at our Chairman's home.

Grand Rounds Breakfast

Breakfast is called the most important meal of the day for many reasons, not only replenishing our bodies, but also connecting with one another plays an important role in wellness. We make an effort to always provide nourishment for our bodies before we nourish our brains.
