Thank you for your interest in the Internal Medicine Residency Program at LSU Health Shreveport. We are proud of the outstanding clinical experience we provide. Patient diversity and a dedicated faculty are two of our greatest strengths. We offer a comprehensive educational program within a multi-site framework as well as ample opportunities to participate in research.
We believe in fostering a love of learning that is life-long by developing our residents as teachers and encouraging participation in medical education across the continuum of training. Our residents are trained by a diverse group of faculty with expertise in various areas of general medicine and the subspecialties of internal medicine. Our graduates are well prepared to practice in any type of setting and enjoy success as specialists, hospitalists and academic faculty and a variety of other pathways.
The residency curriculum is developed with a goal to ensure establishment of a sound knowledge base as well as providing the tools to translate didactic learning into clinic practice with a strong emphasis on professionalism and empathy. The residents take advantage of a robust mentoring program focused on personal and professional development.
Our residents come to us from all walks of life and build lasting relationships in an atmosphere of camaraderie and congeniality as they train to become competent and compassionate clinicians. Please explore our website and feel free to contact our team for any further information.

Latest Happenings in IM Residency
LSUHS Internal Medicine Residency Program recently established a new committee, "Community Connections", to foster work in the community.
Their first project was to provide supplies for one room at Providence House. Money was raised to purchase sheets, bedding, pillows, bed side tables, lamps, mirror, fan, cleaning supplies and personal care items. The plan is to continue sponsoring one room at a time.
