APPLY | Internal Medicine / Pediatrics Residency

We will be sending out interview invitations on October 8, 2024. Interview invitations will be sent out in the afternoon as advised by the MPPDA Executive Committee, NMPRA, AAMC, AAIM, and AAPD. 

The format of interviews will be virtual only for the 2024-2025 interview season as recommended by the MPPDA Executive Committee, NMPRA, AAMC, AAIM, and AAPD. 

Applicants have 72 hours to respond to the interview invitation. 

The deadline to submit applications to our program is November 15th.

We do not have a minimum score requirement for Step 1. We adopt a holistic approach for our applicant selection process.

No, we do not. Our current institutional policy is that residents must take Step 3 prior to completion of their intern year. The LSBME and institution require that residents pass Step 3 prior to completion of their second year. It is preferred that applicants who graduated 2+ years ago have taken the exam. 

No. The LSBME does have a limit of 3 attempts for Step 2 and 3.

Yes, we require 3 letters of recommendation. We are not requiring letters from department chairs. Instead, we request that you submit letters from physicians who have worked closely with you in the clinical setting. We are not requiring that these letters be from any particular specialty, but at least one letter should be from a provider in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine-Pediatrics, or Family Medicine.

We do currently have International Medical Graduates in our program and will absolutely accept applications from International Medical Graduates. Please visit the “Meet Our Residents” page to learn more about our residents.

Yes, we require meaningful inpatient and outpatient clinical experience in the US.
