Salaries are set by the Louisiana Legislature and are identical throughout the state. Residents are insured by act of legislature (in-house only). Hospitalization and life insurance are available.

CME NOTES: An additional CME bonus will be awarded to any resident scoring at least one standard deviation above the national mean on the annual ABFM In-Training Examination. The program pays the ABFM In-Training Examination fee of $50. Up to $2,500 is also provided for Board Review Courses.

LICENSE FEES: Louisiana State Medical License fees are paid for all residents, $482.00.

MEMBERSHIPS: Membership dues are paid for all residents for the American Academy of Family Physicians, Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians, and Ouachita Parish Medical Society.

SUBSCRIPTIONS/ CLINICAL TOOLS: The program purchases UpToDate, Epocrates, and AAFP Essentials for each resident, to supplement the electronic resources and mobile applications provided by the medical library.

HEALTH INSURANCE: LSU Health Shreveport offers a variety of healthcare benefit options; residents may purchase selected healthcare insurance as part of the benefits package at greatly reduced rates.

RETIREMENT PLAN: A pension plan is provided and is fully transferable upon completion of training.

MALPRACTICE INSURANCE: Provided by act of legislature, in-house only for OLMH & FMC as related to residency duties

   

Residency Benefits at Franklin Medical Center (FMC)

WELCOME EVENT: Residents will be welcomed into our community during an annual event hosted by the hospital.

PARKING: Convenient and free physician parking will be available at FMC.

CALL ROOM: On call rooms available on-site on the second floor of FMC.

DINING: Dining in the FMC cafeteria is provided free-of-charge to physicians.

GYM MEMBERSHIP: Winnsboro has two 24-hour-access gyms that will offer free or discounted access to resident physicians.

TRAINING CENTER: Didactic lectures at OLMH will be held Fridays; lecture access is available on-site at FMC in the Training Center. On-site lectures, skills workshops, medical staff and residency meetings are also held here.

CERTIFICATIONS: Certification for Acute Cardiac & Pediatric Life Support (ACLS & PALS) will be offered during the PGY-1 orientation by LSU Health Shreveport, and renewal will be provided by FMC. All residents will be able to obtain their initial certification in Acute Trauma Life Support (ATLS) in the PGY-2 year, with course fees paid by FMC.

MOONLIGHTING: On-site moonlighting may be available at FMC, dependent upon licensure/visa status.
