FAMILY MEDICINE RESIDENT LIFE in Alexandria, Louisiana

Wellness & Well-Being In-service

The program provides an annual Wellness & Well-Being In-Service, and encourages residents to attend the spirited luncheon in costume.  This year’s event provided training on the features and benefits of the Insight Timer app, which the Department of Family Medicine recently subscribe to for our residents.  Prizes were awards for “Best Costume” and “Originality”.

Community Volunteering

Rapides Regional Medical Center Medical Executive Committee recognized residents from the LSU Family Medicine Residency for their work during Hurricane Ida and the days that followed. These physicians volunteered for 24-hour shifts caring for the medical needs of hurricane Ida evacuees at the Mega Shelter. They treated almost 900 patients in one month.  The Alexandria program provides medical care to evacuees on an as needed basis following all hurricanes.  (See more volunteering photos below.)

Graduation Celebration

In late June the program hosts an elaborate graduation celebration, complete with reception for grads and guests followed by the convocation ceremony.  No two events are ever the same, with each customized to the graduating class.  The evening is most memorable for the graduates and 200-300 guests on hand to applaud this momentous occasion.  The ceremony is followed by a fun after-party.

Our Residents...get involved, have fun, celebrate life and care for others!
