FACULTY PRECEPTORS

Robert Campbell, MD
Dr. Campbell completed residency training at our program in 2022 and served as chief resident during the 2021-2022 academic year. Dr. Campbell is a native of Baytown, Texas.  He received his MD from Ross University School of Medicine. He graduated from University of Houston with a BS in Psychology and received pre-med training at San Jacinto College in Pasadena, Texas.  Dr. Campbell currently, practices Family Medicine at Brian Clinic in Alexandria with affiliations with Rapides Regional Medical Center. He also serves as a physician preceptor for residents in our program’s clinic.

Derek Johnson, MD
Dr. Johnson practices Family Medicine in Jena, Louisiana, located in LaSalle parish in affiliation with LaSalle General Hospital. Dr. Johnson is a graduate of the Alexandria residency program, and a former Chief Resident. He earned his MD from LSU Health – New Orleans. He serves as a preceptor and mentor for our Rural Family Medicine track, a community-based rotation in Jena. He also precepts in the residency clinic.

Charles Norwood, MD
Dr. Norwood practices as a Family Medicine physician in the central Louisiana area. He is a graduate and fellow of LSU Health Sciences Center – New Orleans. Dr. Norwood previously served in the U.S. Army. He has extensive Emergency Medicine and Urgent Care experience and is the director of Rapides Urgent Care. He has worked with the program in various capacities since its’ inception and is currently a resident preceptor in the program’s Continuity Clinic.

Jane Singh, MD
Dr. Singh practices Family Medicine in Jena, Louisiana in affiliations with LaSalle General Hospital. She is a graduate of the American University of Antigua and completed residency training at the Alexandria residency program in 2019, where she served as Chief Resident during her PGY-3 year. Dr. Singh is a rotation preceptor for the Rural Family Medicine Track in Jena, Louisiana and recently began precepting in the program’s clinic on a weekly basis.

Darien Slaughter, MD
Dr. Slaughter, a graduate of LSU Health-Shreveport, has worked with the residency since 2000, currently as clinic preceptor. He is also an Emergency Medicine Specialist and has 20 years of experience and practices in Family Medicine and Sports Medicine. Dr. Slaughter is certified by the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and is a certified Aviation Medical Examiner. He currently practices at Sabine Medical Center in Many, Louisiana.
