MEDICAL STUDENT CLERKSHIPS

Students who rotate with us are exposed to the full breadth of Family Medicine.  Students participate in both inpatient and outpatient primary care services and will be exposed to procedures such as EGD, colonoscopy, newborn circumcision, skin biopsy, colposcopy, and treadmill stress testing.

You may visit us for a clerkship during your third or fourth year.  Spaces for clerkship positions are limited, so we recommend making your requests at least two months in advance (foreign students, allow at least four months).

All clerkship students will need the following:

  • A short white physician's coat and a photo ID badge.
  • A stethoscope.
  • A vehicle for travel in town.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR GRADUATES:
We are unable to provide "observership" experiences for medical graduates. This applies to both U.S. and foreign medical graduates.  Rotations are only available for active medical students.

Apply for the rotation through the LSUHS Registrar's Office.  Students from schools other than LSU Health Shreveport must please carefully review the information under "Visiting Medical Students".
