Doctor of Occupational Therapy

The Program in Occupational Therapy at LSU Health Shreveport has been approved by the LSU Board of Supervisors and the Louisiana Board of Regents to transition from a Master of Occupational Therapy to the Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (OTD). Beginning with the 2021-2022 admissions cycle, LSU Health Shreveport is no longer accepting applications to the Master of Occupational Therapy program. If granted approval by Accreditation Council of Occupational Therapy Education, LSU Health Shreveport will be accepting applications for the OTD program for the 2021-2022 admissions cycle with the first classes beginning May 2022.

Accreditation

The Master of Occupational Therapy Program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), located at 6116 Executive Boulevard, Suite 200, North Bethesda, MD 20852-4929. ACOTE’s telephone number, c/o AOTA, is (301) 652-aota and its web address is www.acoteonline.org. The Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program has been approved by the Louisiana Board of Regents and will undergo  ACOTE review in September 2021.

Program Outcomes

The LSU Health Shreveport Master of Occupational Therapy program has had a 100% pass rate on the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy for the past ten years. According to our graduate surveys, 100% of MOT graduates who are seeking employment are employed within 6 months of graduation. The total number of graduates from the LSU Health Shreveport Master of Occupational Therapy program during the 3-year period of 2019-2021 was 75 with an overall graduation rate of 100%.
