  • Medical oncologists specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of all types of cancer. They recommend treatment options and work with primary care physicians and other medical specialists.
  • Surgical oncologists are surgeons with specialty training in procedures for diagnosing, staging, or removing cancerous growths.
  • Radiation oncologists specialize in treating cancer using radiation. They plan and deliver radiation therapy and carefully monitor the treatment of each patient.
  • Nurse navigators are experienced oncology nurses who guide and support patients through their cancer diagnosis, treatment and recovery. They help coordinate appointments, provide additional information about treatment and answer any questions.
  • Cancer genetic counselors help patients and their families understand and manage their risk for inherited cancer. If a patient has cancer, genetic counseling and testing may determine if they are at risk of developing another type of cancer.
