One of the many missions of Feist-Weiller Cancer Center is to train specialists in cancer care. The Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program is one of the largest in the southeast United States with 18 Fellows. It is a three-year post-MD training program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
Fellows are internists who pursue advanced specialty training. After completing the three-year hematology/oncology Fellowship, many remain in the area or choose to practice elsewhere. Approximately one-fifth of the practicing hematologists and oncologists in Louisiana trained in the Shreveport program. Former Feist-Weiller Cancer Center Fellows are practicing in Shreveport, Bossier City, Monroe, Lafayette, Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Leesville and Mamou.
Feist-Weiller Cancer Center participates in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and The National Match Registry Program (NMRP). The Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program at LSU Health Shreveport is full through June 2020. If you are interested in applying for the 2021-22 academic year, visit www.aamc.org and register for ERAS. Detailed instructions and information are provided.
In addition to completion of the ERAS application, applicants invited for interviews must also complete the LSU Health Shreveport Residency Application.
