Yes, all EVT Lab staff must wear PPE and follow PPE guidelines.

​​​​​​​At present the lab is only detecting the presence of SARS-COV-2/COVID-19 virus through detection of the viral genome and antibodies that would show evidence of a past infection.

​​​​​​​The lab is staffed by trained LSU Health Shreveport faculty and other employees with experience in infectious diseases and clinical diagnostics.

The EVT Lab will be an established diagnostic lab that expands to the detection of multiple pathogens that might affect the health of Louisianians and will serve as surveillance lab for the entire state and region.

For non-LSU Health Shreveport employees, results are reported to the ordering physician (e.g., nursing homes) or the submitting entity (e.g., David Raines). To maintain our reference lab status, the EVT Lab does not provide the result’s report to the person who was tested. For LSU Health Shreveport employees, residents, fellows and students, results are sent to their @lsuhsc.edu email address.

You can email the EVT Lab at evtl@lsuhsc.edu to confirm that the sample taken was valid and that your test was processed and the result sent out to the ordering physician or submitting entity.  You can also call the Data Integrity Group at 318-813-7203 with questions about your results once they are received.

​​​​​​​Results are anticipated in 36-48 hours, but many times they are received much quicker than that time frame.

​​​​​​​The EVT Lab cannot yet come out to individual business as it must follow the CDC and state guidelines. There are approved mobile testing sites that have been screening rural and medically underserved regions of North Louisiana. Future goals are to expand the access of screening to the general public.
