This event brought together all of the LSU COBRE grants, the P. I’s that are associated with those grants, as well as the research project leaders and trainees from the LSU system to share science, present posters and discuss collaborations as well as future research areas to work together. Topics that were discussed included metabolic disease, dealing with obesity, cardiovascular disease, lung biology, cancer and also how viruses can contribute to chronic inflammatory diseases, as well as even contribute to carcinogenesis.
Within each COBRE there are significant resources that may not be available on each individual campus. This event allowed for sharing of ideas and exploring resources and equipment individual campuses have, in order to work more efficiently to leverage those resources to submit more grants and achieve bigger research projects.
