COBRE Colloquium 2019
On September 20th, 2019, the COBRE Center for Redox Biology and Cardiovascular Disease held their second annual COBRE Colloquium. All members of the External Advisory Committee were in attendance, and Dr. Mark Anderson, Director of the Department of Medicine at Johns Hopkins, presented the latest research from his laboratory. Dr. Orr and Dr. Stokes provided updates on the functionality of the COBRE Cores, including the expanded capabilities to produce Cas9 knockout vascular cells and the addition of new equipment for performing pressure-volume loops and measuring nitric oxide. The role of the CCDS Surgical Models Core and the CCDS Virus Production Core in bolstering the COBRE Core Facilities was also highlighted. Each of the Project Leaders and Pilot Project Leaders provided an update on their research progress over the past year, and Dr. Chris Pattillo presented his research as the first graduate of the COBRE Center for Redox Biology and Cardiovascular Disease, as he received an NHLBI R01 grant to fund his research in February 2019.
