
ELIGIBILITY and APPLICATION
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
The overarching goal of this SUMMIT program is to establish a robust workforce prepared to advance biological science for decades to come by providing research experience and mentoring to undergraduate students. Students will work in the laboratory of a mentor from our EPSCoR CREST Center for Post-Transcriptional Regulation (CPTR). Only US citizens/permanent residents can participate in the program.
Eligible participants include:
- Must be interested in metabolism and protein regulation research as part of future career goals.
- Must display exemplary academic performance.
- Must be full-time undergraduate, rolling into their sophomore, junior or senior year.
- Must be able to commit to the 8 weeks of the program.
- Must present at a symposium at the end of the program.

HOW DO I APPLY?

Application Deadline is February 11, 2026
To apply, applicants should complete the application form.
Attachments required are:
- Resumé
- Unofficial Transcript
- 3-5 sentences describing prior research experience, if any (previous research experience is NOT required in order to apply).
- Personal statement (no more than 500 words) should include:
- what are your career goals
- why you want to participate in the SUMMIT program and how will the program help you achieve your career research goals
- what experiments/techniques in your college courses/labs have stimulated your interest in research
- Applicants should pick 4 faculty members whose research interests align with theirs and with whom they would like to work. ► MENTOR INFORMATION
- Recommendation letters: In the application form, applicants will be asked to name 2-4 academic and/or professional referees who can speak to your interest in, and suitability for, the program; applicants should ask referees to submit their letters to:
