Program Overview
SUMMIT is an 8-week intensive program in the EPSCoR CREST Center for Post-Transcriptional Regulation (CPTR) for undergraduate students seeking to pursue a research career. Students will undertake hypothesis-driven projects in state-of-the-art labs, mentored by faculty whose expertise spans post-transcriptional regulation, metabolic signaling, and advanced phenotyping. Throughout the summer, students will partake in enrichments designed to enhance their technical capabilities, professional confidence, and ethical approach to research.

What do Students do in the program?

- Engage in hands-on laboratory work alongside graduate students and postdoctoral fellows,
- Boot Camp in Core Laboratory Skills
- Hands-on training in CPTR facilities during tours of the iPSC and Cell Models Lab (Dr. Tarek Magdy) and the Metabolomics and Machine Learning Lab (Dr. Nam and Dr. Bhuiyan)
- One-on-one meetings with mentors and group roundtables
- Training in responsible conduct of research
- Enrichments in career preparation
- Sessions in Research Core Labs and Library
- Student life discussions
- Present at the end-of-program SUMMIT poster session
- Receive: a stipend of $15 / hour; travel costs; rent subsidies
- 2 students selected to present at ABRCMS
