Stephan N. Witt, PhD, FCSSI, Chairman of the Department of Biochemistry at LSU Health Shreveport, was named a Senior Fellow of the Cell Stress Society International (CSSI) at the Ninth International Congress on Stress Responses in Biology & Medicine held in San Diego, Ca., Nov. 10-14. The CSSI states that Fellows distinguish themselves in a variety of ways including path-breaking contributions to the cell stress responses and molecular chaperones field. The designation of Senior Fellow further recognizes exceptional service to the field and CSSI by serving as officers and councilors, organizers of Congresses and contributors to the society’s journal, Cell Stress & Chaperones, as authors, reviewers and editors. Dr. Witt is a long-time member of the Cell Stress Society International and has been on the editorial board of Cell Stress and Chaperones since 2002.
The Cell Stress Society International, Inc. is a non-profit scientific society open to any qualified researcher investigating stress responses using molecular and cellular approaches, or bridging from the molecular and cellular level to organismal biology including studies of natural populations and to clinical and environmental applications. Founded in 1999, the society promotes collaboration among the various fields of stress research, international scientific cooperation, and public awareness.
