The LSU Board of Supervisors has approved the Center of Academic Excellence in Patient Centered Rehabilitation (CAE-PaCeR) in the School of Allied Health Professions (SAHP) of LSU Health Shreveport (LSUHS). The Center of Academic Excellence for Patient Centered Rehabilitation (CAE-PaCeR) will establish the necessary infrastructure to deliver patient-centered rehabilitation in an academic culture of excellence for clinical learning, innovation, and collaboration. With nearly 50 years of multi-disciplinary service to the communities of Northwest Louisiana, the academic and clinical programs providing a strong foundation for the Center would include:

- Doctor of Physical Therapy
- Communications Disorders – Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology
- PhD Program in Rehabilitation Sciences
- Master of Occupational Therapy
3 Physical Therapy Residencies
- Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency
- Neurologic Physical Therapy Residency
- Wound Management Residency
The newly approved center will provide and promote advanced practice rehabilitation clinical services and blended learning experiences to achieve the following:
To provide unrivaled education and mentoring for aspiring rehabilitation professionals and other collaborative health disciplines in order to foster excellence in academic, research, and clinical rehabilitation endeavors.
To engage multi-disciplinary collaborative teams in order to prioritize team-based, patient-centered health delivery and to model and expand these integrated, value-based practices for the citizens of Louisiana.
To conduct and disseminate translational research to advance the science and clinical management for populations in need of rehabilitation services, while stimulating innovation and the critical thinking of future providers.

To enhance the diversity in these professions by creating opportunities for underrepresented minority (URM) students to participate in experiential learning in either the clinic, classroom, or research laboratory in order to consider, apply, and succeed in these professions.
